A. Call to Order: Meeting was called to order by President T. Beineke at 9:37
B. Opening Devotion: President T. Beineke: Holy, Holy, Holy
C. Members Excused/Introductions: Attendance: M. Roeder, T. Beineke, P. Kraase
D. Minutes of March 23 Meeting: Motion made Seconded to approve minutes as presented. Carried.
E. Treasurer’s Report: No new report given (M. Ramel absent). Requested 2nd quarter rebate. Will request the 3rd quarter.
F. President’s Report: Will contact Pasto Richard Bidinger (Cascade) to see if he will be our pastoral advisor. Congregation Visits: Received list from Polly of donors/congregations. Contact to try to get more ambassadors (donors? young/active member?) Polly’s recommendation: ask the pastor if you can reach out to their Outreach/Evangelism team. Tom will check into having an LHM table outside chapel at CUW when school resumes in the fall (Pastor Baker?) Will check for any updates on our sponsored LHM Center in Turkey.
G. New Business: 2024 Convention Planning - October 12, 2024. Trinity Lutheran Church, Wausau. M. Roeder & T. Beineke visited the convention site May 1. Met with Pastor Maylan-cooperative and helpful. Facility is beautiful. Neal will confirm that the facility has a laptop/hookups to be used by the presenters (power point). MAIN SPEAKER: KARI VO (author of LHM Daily Devotions). Check to see if there is anything else they could have Kari participate in at Trinity (Sunday Bible Study, presentation, Friday night activities?) NEAL: still needs to arrange caterer/hotel. **June 10 update: Subway can do a box lunch with 6” sub sandwich, pickle, chips and cookie for $8.50 plus tax. The Super 8 Motel on Stewart Ave. will book 15 rooms until Sept. 1 for $102.00 plus tax per night for 2 queen beds.*** Neal will contact Pastor Thierman for organist contact. ** June 10 update: A committed organist has been arranged, with no confirmed fee. SWD/NWD offices have sent SAVE THE DATE information to congregations. Also on Website. NWD (Shirley) will handle registration. Will work on having registration directly on website for next year. Details to Polly by July 15 so promotional information can be sent to us by the beginning of August. (gives 8 wks. for promotion) Theme: ENERGIZING MISSIONS. PSALM 39: 1-2. Polly will provide CONNECT Event, which was recorded-infomercials-short videos that describe various resources that could be incorporated into the convention. Neal will create the convention schedule and will send to Tom. Presenter: DICK GAST (Pedal Pushers): Dick will pay for his own hotel Friday night. $1000 will be given to him for travel expenses ($500 from each district). Mark/Sue Roemer will provide Root Beer Floats after Dick’s presentation. Suggested this be scheduled at the end of the convention so people would leave after.
Registration: $30/pastors free - same as last year.
